Welcome to the Bison Health Symposium Website
We are pleased to announce the 1st International Symposium on Bison Health to be held at the Radisson Hotel in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 24-26, 2015. The Organizing Committee has put together a dynamic group of speakers and a program that we believe will offer veterinarians and students, animal scientists, government officials, bison producers, and anyone else interested in bison health issues the opportunity to discuss, debate and learn about the current and emerging health issues facing the bison industry. Well known bison veterinarians, animal scientists, and industry experts from Canada and the US will offer their insight and perspective and discuss the latest research findings during the invited presentations we are offering. This Symposium will focus specifically on health and disease issues that impact the bison industry.
Your host city of Saskatoon is a beautiful and friendly city with a population of about 234,000 people, located in the Province of Saskatchewan, an area known as “the land of the living skies” for its broad horizons and ever changing skyscapes. The South Saskatchewan River runs through Saskatoon with 8 bridges linking the east and west sides. The Meewasin Valley trails boasts 60 kilometres of riverside all season pathways to walk and explore. (http://www.tourismsaskatoon.com) Saskatoon has an active arts community with many art galleries, boutique shopping, challenging golf courses, and good locally-owned restaurants, serving fresh local cuisine. The conference will coincide with the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival which runs for 10 days, and attracts hundreds of world class artists and over 85,000 music fans to listen to the sounds of jazz, blues, funk, pop, and world music.
